IABA Ulster Branch – Membership Growth Programme – REGION 2 – Spring 2022
Programme Purpose
We are giving clubs an opportunity to become a delivery partner for our IABA Ulster Branch Membership Growth Programme.
The aim of the programme is to help clubs increase their club membership by actively targeting the following underrepresented groups;
1. Women and Girls | 2. People from Areas of High Social Need |
3. Children and Young People and | 4. People with Disabilities* |
This programme is funded by Sport NI through the Sporting Clubs Programme.
Who can apply?
- All boxing clubs based within the following County Boards: Down and Armagh, Derry, Tyrone and Fermanagh and Antrim (but cannot be within the Belfast City Council Area)
- Please note all clubs must be affiliated to the IABA for the 2021/2022 season at the time of application to apply.
PROGRAMME SCHEDULE
We will only work clubs who offer activities that are additional to normal club training sessions.
The club must have the objective of introducing new people to the sport by targeting one of the underrepresented groups as outlined within this guidance document.
- All programmes must be delivered and completed before Friday 18th March 2022.
- Each programme will deliver 12 hours of coaching
- The 12 hours coaching can be delivered in a variety of ways such as:
- 2hr x 1 session per week across 6 weeks
- A holiday camp with 12 hours delivery across the Feb ½ term break, e.g. 10am-1pm over 4 days
PROGRAMME FORMAT
The Programme must be delivered by way of one of the following formats:
- Taster sessions in your club (examples: New Year Lose the Xmas Pounds Programme, Recruitment Drive etc)
- Holiday Camp in the February ½ Term
COACHING CONSTRAINTS
- There must be a minimum of 2 coaches at each session.
- All coaches named in this application MUST have an up to date Access NI check and/ or Garda Vetting Check.
- All coaches MUST have as a minimum a Level 1 IABA coaching qualification.
ELIGIBLE COSTS
- Maximum award: £500 per club (£480 for coaches’ expenses/equipment costs and £20 towards refreshments)
DATA COLLECTION
- All participant data must be gathered and attached utilising the IABA Data Collection Template, this is in compliance with the Data Protection Regulations.
- Must work with a minimum of 16 participants. *If your programme’s focus is disabilities then min. numbers can be 10.
Deadline for submission & notes:
- Deadline: Tuesday 1st February 2022 @ 5pm
- Applications will be assessed on a first come first serve basis (the pot of funds is limited)
- All successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified via email by Friday 4th February 2022.

- Expressions of interest will not be accepted by post.
- Failure to provide all the required documentation; invoices, receipts and participant data will result in nil payment.
