Dear Members,
Clubs are reminded that in accordance with Children First Act 2015 and National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012 all individuals with access to children under the age of 18 years must be Vetted prior to taking up positions in clubs.
This is a mandatory requirement and cannot be circumvented under any circumstances. In line with IABA policy, legal responsibility and best practice provisions, all members of the Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA), who regularly work with children and/or vulnerable adults in boxing, must complete the vetting process.
It is the responsibility of the clubs committee to ensure all volunteers with regular access to children and/or vulnerable adults have completed the vetting process before commencing in regulated positions/regulated activity (i.e., Coach, Children’s Officer or Volunteers who have regular access to children as part of their role).
Please note, volunteers cannot commence in a role where they have regular access to children and/or vulnerable adults in boxing while their vetting application is being processed. Such actions could potentially leave the club liable to penalties in the event of an incident.
