Thank you for taking the time to read this
I feel it is important to comment on a recent media post relating to the Secretary of the UBC, Mr Charlie Toland. I wanted to advise all our members that Mr Toland has always carried out his duties as Secretary in a competent and professional manner and has consulted with me and other officers and members of the council prior to taking action on any matters.
I do not want to comment specifically on the issues raised in social media as it would be unfair to the parties involved. The UBC have a duty however to follow up and take appropriate action when required in line with the rules of our organisation. That has been the case in this instance and as Secretary, Mr Toland was simply doing what he was asked to do.
All our members have the right to be treated with dignity and respect and I expect this from anyone involved in our sport. If anyone feels unfairly treated or they want to complain about another member I would urge and encourage them to use the proper channels.
There is no single person in “control” of Ulster boxing and decisions are made collectively following due consideration and when appropriate after seeking advice from key individuals. I felt it was important to clarify this point and the position of the Ulster Boxing Council
As always I am willing to discuss further should anyone wish to contact me
