Types of Training and courses
There are a range of training opportunities available for coaching who are affiliated to the IABA. For IABA L1 or L2 Coaching Courses please contact your County Secretary. The process is explained with instructions and forms in the Boxing Forms section of the website. Scheduled dates for courses are detailed within the Coach/Volunteer Education Programme.
Other generic courses are also available (2015-2016) such as ‘Skills for Sport – Fundamentals of Movement’, ‘A Coaching Plan (Developing short and long term session plans), ‘Strength & Conditioning’, ‘Cuts’ and ‘Coaching 5-12 year olds’.
Further courses in 2016-2017 will be available such as ‘Positive Behaviour Management’, ‘Mental Skills for Competition’ and ‘Nutrition’.
Referee & Judges
Seminars are offered to support our Referee & Judges who play such a vital role in our sport. Contact your County or Provincial Secretary for further information.
Club Volunteer Training Opportunities
Courses are also available to help clubs with ‘How to Grow your Club – Marketing’, and ‘Generating Club Income’.
Safeguarding Children & Young People in Boxing (Child Protection Awareness) – as part of our commitment to the welfare of young boxers we offer awareness training for club members. General awareness courses may also be available through your local council. This 3 hr course can be organised for a club or a group of clubs coming together. Minimum 12 and Maximim 20 people per course. See Coach / Volunteer Education Programme for more details.
Emergency First Aid in Sport – to support our clubs and coaches in dealing with first aid issues. This full day course is organised with a group of clubs coming together and may also be available through your local council.
